About

Hi, I’m Hannah.

I am A YOGA TEACHER, ZENTHAI SHIATSU MASSAGE THERAPIST, DOULA, AND MOTHER, HERE TO OFFER AN EMBODIED, INTEGRATED, AND PRACTICAL APPROACH TO MOVEMENT, MOTHERHOOD, AND MINDFUL LIVING.

I grew up in San Francisco California and Austin Texas, and completed my first yoga training in Mexico where I fortuitously met my now husband Jaspah. We then moved to Melbourne Australia where we currently run Gertrude Street Yoga Studio and raise our daughter Neesa and dog Bhakti.

For me, yoga is a living practice that informs and supports my
daily life as a mother, vegan, partner and business owner.

I practice and teach movement for the purpose of finding freedom, comfort, and ease in the body. My experience of discomfort and instability in my own body while pregnant and postpartum led to a dramatic overhaul in my approach to movement. I have a passion for functional movement, engaged and inspired alignment, and using asana as a gateway to the deeper, more subtle practices of yoga.

Motherhood is one of the primary laboratories for my practice. Every day I am challenged to take my yoga off the mat and put it into action as I strive to parent consciously and gently. I empower women to have choice and agency during birth (I had an incredible home water birth with my daughter), support breastfeeding, embrace gentle parenting, and enjoy incorporating principles of Waldorf/Steiner education into my home (both my husband and I attend Steiner schools).

After the birth of my daughter I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle and fully plant based diet. My experience becoming vegan has been incredibly joyful, creative, and expansive as I more fully align myself with my core values. For me, the choice to be vegan is a manifestation of the yogic principle of ahimsa (non-harm) and is one of many ways I try to move through this life with compassion, and minimise my footprint on this planet.

So if you’re interested in learning to move well, to feel strong and mobile in your body, to be empowered on your journey through pregnancy birth and motherhood, to be supported through movement, bodywork and the 5 element system of TCM, and to be inspired to live a more compassionate, aligned, and mindful life you’re in the right place – welcome!
