yoga

“Yoga offers us ways to not only maintain our temple-bodies, but to create an optimal setting for life force (prana) to awaken. Prana allows us to navigate our lives with clarity, enlivens devotion, and creates a powerful space for recognizing our true nature.” – Janet Stone

200 hour Yoga teacher training

Applications are open for Gertrude Street Yoga’s 200hr Yoga Teacher Training (led by myself, Nina Alfers, and Ana Uribe) commencing April 14.

I have been teaching yoga for 8 years and practicing for over 12. Yoga has always been woven into the fabric of my life, showing up in different formats, traditions, and practices at various times. My personal practice has grown and evolved as has my teaching. Honouring yoga as a living tradition that changes and evolves over time while also recognising its cultural and historical roots is fundamental to my understanding of the practice.
My personal experience of discomfort and instability while pregnant and postpartum led to a dramatic overhaul in my approach to practicing movement and teaching asana.

It gave me a new appreciation for functional movement and intelligent alignment, and re-inspired me to offer yoga that is both sustainable and accessible.

I practice and teach movement for the purpose of finding freedom, strength, comfort, and ease in the body and although the yoga that we practice on the mat is only a sliver of a holistic yoga practice, I believe that in the context that I am teaching (and for the general population that I am teaching), it is an integral part of the practice and a potent gateway through which you can discover the more subtle practices of yoga.
